A week to mark 1st International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, 29 September

The Lithuanian Consumer Institute, the lead partner of a consortium of six NGOs in six countries, is organising a week of initiatives to celebrate the first IDAFLW.

Where: Vilnius, Lithuania

Who: Lithuanian Consumer Institute, the lead partner of a consortium of six NGOs in six countries implementing an innovative and ambitious awareness campaign on household food waste, “Sincerely, Food” (as part of the project Global learning approach to food waste in non-formal education, partly supported by the European Commission’s DEAR programme).

25 September: Sincerely, Food’s infotainment pavilion at the Culture Night Vilnius. Organiser: Lithuanian Consumer Institute. Location: Bernardinų sodas, Vilnius. Time: 18:00–2:00. Food waste-themed games, fact sheets, handbooks, tips, conversations.

28 September: Waste-free food prepping lab “Cook your way towards global awareness”, feat. food blogger Renata Ničajienė. Location: online (Facebook live broadcast), web address: https://www.facebook.com/vartotojai/live_videos/ Renata will be prepping a dish and sharing her tips on how to stay waste-free while dealing with food.

Consumers are invited to share their recipes and pictures of leftover-friendly dishes; consumers’ role in tackling food waste is addressed.
